The effect is quadrupled when a batting pair goes berserk in the enthralling 20-overs matches to produce the highest partnership in t20. We are here to pay tribute to the amazing batsmen who have brought to us the top 5 highest partnerships in T20 International to date.
Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani (Afghanistan)
On 23rd February 2019, in Dehradun, Afghanistan’s powerful duo Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani broke a couple of T20 international records in a match versus Ireland. The pair blazed dynamites against the Irish bowlers, to score a humongous 236 run stand on the first wicket. This has been the highest partnership in t20 records so far.
Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short (Australia)
On 3rd July 2018, in Harare, Australia’s destructive duo Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short were merciless on Zimbabwe. They smacked a mammoth of 223 runs for the opening wicket. Finch made it real by his fantastic 172, which is the highest total record by a batsman in T20 whereas Short supported him by his perfect fiddle of 46 runs.
George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer (Scotland)
On 16th September 2019, in Dublin, George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer, the Scottish opening pair, registered their name in the record books as one of the most power-packed performances in T20. They together scored a run mark of 200 in the first 90 balls. Munsey alone took the game away from the Netherlands with a total of 14 sixes.
Dawid Malan and Eoin Morgan (England)
On 8th November 2019, in Napier, Dawid Malan showcased one of the finest hitting abilities in a match against New Zealand. Supporting him through the tremendous innings, Morgan stepped up with a total of 182 runs to bring in one of the greatest partnerships ever. They helped England reach 241/3 for the third wicket with a sum total of 13 sixes and 14 fours together.
Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson (New Zealand)
Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson have together played some wonderful knocks together. The Guptill-Williamson duo has time and again led the team to victory with the fire and ice combination they have. One of their best partnership records was against Pakistan, on 17th January 2016, where they together reached 171-run stand towards victory.
T20 International cricket has witnessed some of the most fantabulous partnership records that will remain with the fans for eternity. Whether it is the South African Smith-Bosman duo with a 170-run stand in 2009 or the Sharma-Rahul duo with a 165-run stand in 2017, all of their performances showing brilliant craftsmanship are indeed laudable.
